Donald J. Albosta

December 5, 1925 - December 18, 2014


ALBOSTA, Donald Joseph, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on December 5, 1925 to the late Paul and Laura (Bennet) Albosta. He attended Saginaw and Chesaning Public Schools and graduated from Chesaning Agricultural School. He married the former Dorothy Ankoviak on February 10, 1951 and she survives him.

Don was a proud farmer, founding and operating Misteguay Creek Farms. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, and served his community as Albee Township Trustee, Saginaw County Commissioner, Michigan State House of Representatives 86th district, US Congressman 10th district, School Board Secretary and Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee for Trade. He was also the director of the Sugar Beet Growers Association, Associate Director of Saginaw County Soil Conservation District, on the State Advisory Board of the FHA, member of the Farmer' Union and NFO, president of Prairie Farms Cooperative for 20 years, a member of St. Charles VFW post 5695 and the 1960 Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year.

Along with his wife of 63 years Dorothy, Don is survived by his daughter, Christine (Gary) White of Bancroft; son, Paul (Renee) Albosta of Burt; granddaughters, Chelsey and Carly Albosta; a sister, Ruth Sklebeck and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church of Albee. Fr. Christopher Coman will preside with burial following at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albee. Visitation will take place at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. and again on at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arla June Gilmore

April 6, 1928 - December 4, 2014


GILMORE, Arla June, age 87, passed away December 4, 2014. She was born April 3, 1928 to the late Walter H. and Helen (Vincent) Frasier. Arla married the late Charles H. Gilmore April 6, 1948 in Ripley, NY. Arla was a homemaker and also made wedding cakes.

She leaves behind five sons, Edward (Kris) Gilmore of Swartz Creek, James (Holly) Gilmore of Owosso, Douglas (Kathie) Gilmore of Davison, Dennis (Shelly) Gilmore of Grand Blanc and Patrick (Martha) Gilmore of Grand Blanc; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Her great nephew Doug Haskins will officiate. Burial will follow at Brant Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Medical Team.


Lela M. Thurston

November 6, 1929 - December 2, 2014


THURSTON, Lela M., age 85, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2014. On May 28, 1949, she married the love of her life, John E. Thurston, Jr., and together they raised a family as life long residents of St. Charles, Michigan. In the early years of marriage, Lela worked as a nurse, and in 1963 started work for Morley Incentives (Morley Brothers) where she worked until retirement. She traveled extensively for work and for pleasure with John and also enjoyed, golfing, bowling, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the St. Charles United Methodist Church and a volunteer for VNA-Hospice. Lela was a "people-person" and she treasured her many friendships with neighbors, golfing and bowling buddies, high school classmates, friends from church and those she met through her volunteer activities. She and John also maintained lasting friendships with fellow "Winter Texans" whom they met while spending 20 winters on South Padre Island. She cherished her friendship with each and every one of them.

Lela is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Richard) Lovato and Sally (Jamie) Wright; three grandchildren, Melissa (Christopher) Zielinski, Abby (Kevin) Brant, and John Maxwell Wright; and three great-grandchildren, Rylan Zielinski, Elliott Brant, and Callen Zielinski. She was predeceased by John E. Thurston, Jr. on March 10, 2013, after 64 years of marriage.

As she requested, Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

A very special thanks is extended from her family to Mom's loving family at Union Court Assisted Living for the exceptional and compassionate care she received during her residency with them. Thank you also to Wellspring Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days.

Gary Douglas Alexander

October 23, 1959 - September 23, 2014


ALEXANDER, Gary Douglas, age 54 years, passed away Tuesday, September 23. He was born in Saginaw on October 23, 1959 to the late Floyd and Nancy (Hodges) Alexander. On May 19, 1985 he married the former Lu Ann Bennett and she survives him. Gary worked for 15 years as a supervisor at Pro Cat Testing. He loved riding motorcycles, casinos and auto mechanics. Gary also loved spending time with his wife and hanging out with friends.

Along with his wife of 29 years Lu Ann, Gary is survived by his mother, Nancy; his children, Christopher Redburn and Amy (Jerry) Handley; sister, Diane (Glen) Rogers; brothers, Roger (Sharon) Alexander and Alan (Teresa) Alexander; grandchildren, Jesse and Melody Redburn, Nathaniel and Nicholas Sperling, and Steven (Natyia) Smith; great-grandson Christopher Redburn; Grandmother Beatrice Alexander and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Gary was predeceased by his father, Floyd Alexander, grandfather Lester Alexander and grandparents Clyde and Martha Hodges.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr, St. Charles. Pastor John R. Miller will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, from noon until the service time. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the wishes of the family.


Stacy Marie Westendorf

March 29, 1989 - September 21, 2014


WESTENDORF, Stacy Marie, age 25, passed away September 21, 2014. She was born in Saginaw on March 29, 1989 to Timothy Hare and Heidi Westendorf. She was a loving mother of two children whom were her world.

Along with her parents, Stacy is survived by her 2 children age 2 and 5 years; 9 siblings, Rebecca, Rachel, Kimberly, Crystal, Emily, Timothy Jr., Tony, Travis and Brandy Hare; and her grandparents Arlene and Don Pack.


A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Pastor Bill Bodnar of Old Town Christian Outreach Center will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials can be made out to the family's wishes.
