February 7, 1949 - April 30, 2016


MORGAN, Lee Edward, age 67 years, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016. He was born on February 7, 1949 to the late Howard and Delores (Brown) Morgan. On February 26, 1979 he married the former Sandra Hudson and she survives him. Lee was a father to 5 children. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was an employee of Buick at General Motors in Flint. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed all Michigan sports. Lee was a faithful and loving member of Shield of Faith Church.

Along with his wife Sandra, Lee is survived by 4 children, John Morgan, Nicole (Brian) Serba, Jason Morgan, and Josh (Megan) Morgan; grandchildren, Lee Jawhari, Zachary Pierce, Alex Burch, Colin Serba and Brigham Morgan; great granddaughter, Remi Pierce; a sister, Carol (Bill) Prim and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Jawhari and two brothers, Howard Morgan and Jack Morgan.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Pastor Weldon Townsend will officiate. A visitation will take place Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Shield of Faith Ministries.


Jacob "Jake" Spannagel

June 10, 1940 - April 13, 2016


SPANNAGEL, Jacob "Jake" John age 75 years, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Jacob is survived by his wife, Joanne (DeGuise) Spannagel and his three children, Debra (Robert) Greve, Michael (Jennifer) Spannagel and David (Kellie) Spannagel.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.

Cathy Elisabeth Haselbeck (Delemeester)

December 21, 1969 - February 28, 2016


HASELBECK, Cathy Elisabeth, beloved wife, daughter, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28th, 2016. She was born on December 21st 1969 to Jim and Marlene Delemeester. She was the youngest of three children.

Cathy graduated from St. Charles Community High School in 1988. Cathy was blessed with a beautiful and caring soul. Throughout her life, she had always surrounded herself with pets. She enjoyed taking care of them and spending time making a difference to all of them.

Cathy was employed at Community State Bank in St. Charles when she met and married her soul mate Charles W. Haselbeck. On November 27th, 1993 they began their lives together. Her love of pets kept their home full. Cathy and Chuck loved spending time together camping when they were not working around their home. Cathy was adamant about her flower gardens. She always wanted them to be free of anything that was not beautiful. She kept herself very busy with this hobby. She spent many hours during the summer keeping them beautiful. New plants each year was almost a requirement.

Her desire to have things clean and organized also was how she kept their home. This was a way of life for her. She constantly kept her husband on his toes with their lawn and their home.

Cathy shared a beautiful life with her family and friends. Cathy is survived by her Husband: Charles Haselbeck, parents: Jim and Marlene Delemeester, Father-in-law: James (the late Karen) Haselbeck, Brothers: Greg (Jackie) Delemeester of Marietta, OH, Gary Delemeester and Jeff Daly of Ancram, NY. Brother and Sister In Laws: Greta (Matt) Zalucha, John (Marsha) Haselbeck, Nieces and Nephews: Mya, Todd, Tiffany, Nima, Payum, Hannah and their families. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cathy's loving presence will be missed by everyone that was blessed to have known her.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Joseph Schabel will preside. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Mausoleum at 3:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 2-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., and again on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Jacqueline Joan Jones

July 20, 1940 - February 20, 2016


JONES, Jacqueline Jones, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the age of 75 years. She was born in Fosters, Michigan on July 20, 1940 to the late George and Helen (Nearing) Lintz. She married Laurence H. LaBelle, Jr. on January 21, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1972. She married John C. Jones in 1976 and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2011.

She is survived by 7 children: Laurence (Jackie) LaBelle of St. Charles, Joseph (Sue) LaBelle of Burt, John (Dawn) LaBelle of Birch Run, Renee (Dean) Baker of Traverse City, Brenda (Alan) Meyer of Burt, Vickie Runyan of Burt and Basil (Kristi) LaBelle of Saginaw, 2 sisters: Alta (Tom) Zoromski of Burt and Helen (Rich) Popp of Saginaw, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild that she cherished. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Agnes LaBelle, a brother, John Lintz and a grandson, Joshua LaBelle.

She was a life-long member of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and has attended Nativity Lutheran Church of St. Charles with her family the past 3 years. She was employed with Frankenmuth Woolen Mills for many years. She loved making beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends as well as gardening and spending time with her family.

Funeral and committal services will be on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Nativity Lutheran Church in St. Charles. The Rev. Mitch Vogeli will officiate. Private burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw. Visitation will be on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at C. M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Drive, St. Charles. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carmen Szilagyi and Heartland Hospice Care for the loving care that they gave to Jacqueline. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nativity Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Lynn Marie Soule

September 7, 1972 - January 5, 2016


SOULE, Lynn Marie, age 43 years, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Lynn is survived by her children, Kyle, Tyler, and Machaela Lepeak; her brother, Timothy (Tami) Soule; and her father, Kenneth Soule. She is preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Soule, and her mother, Rosemary Vicknair. She also leaves behind a niece, a nephew, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Lynn was born on September 7, 1972 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated with her Nursing Degree from ECPI (East Coast Polytechnic Institute) located in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2004. In 2006, she moved back to Saginaw with her family and accepted a position at Healthsource where she worked for about 7 years. Lynn was a caring mother whose greatest pride was her children.

She was always around for anyone who was in need. Her family and friends will always remember her as a hardworking and persistent person.Funeral services will be held at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., Saint Charles on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.. The Rev. Mitch Vogeli will officiate. Visitation will take place prior to the services on Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Family and friends are also welcome to come celebrate Lynn at a reception at Nativity Lutheran Church in Saint Charles following the service.

Brian Kenneth Hare, Jr.

July 5, 1975 - September 22, 2015


HARE, Brian Kenneth, Jr., age 40 years, passed away suddenly September 22, 2015. He was born July 5, 1975 in Saginaw, Michigan to Brian and Donna (Fritz) Hare.

Brian is survived by his father, Brian Hare, Sr.; a brother, Todd A. Hare; nieces, Alyssa, Hailey and Talia Hare; nephew, Dakoda Hare and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Hare.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Pastor Bill Bodnar will officiate with burial to follow at Garfield Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 25 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family's wishes.


Cecil Martin Szepanski

November 28, 1921 - September 7, 2015


SZEPANSKI, Cecil M., age 94 years, passed away September 7, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Cecil was born to the late Martin and Hedwig (Jaskowiak) Szepanski on November 28, 1921. On January 7, 1950 he married Helen Davidek who preceded him in death in 2007. Cecil and Helen enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Cecil was an entrepreneur, a developer, and a man with a great passion for the St. Charles community. He loved to help people and had huge heart.

Cecil is survived by his 6 children, Martin "Dude" (Gail) Szepanski, Kristine (Kelly) Bellenbaum, Marc Szepanski, Kay Krawczyk, Eric Szepanski and MaryHelen Lenhart; Grandchildren, Patrick (Andrea) Szepanski, Kathleen Szepanski(Troy), Jacob (Crystal) Bellenbaum, Lindsay (Ryan) Sullivan, Matthew Szepanski, Chelsea and Victoria Krawczyk, Austyn Lenhart (Chelsey), Joe and Sam Lenhart; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Reed, Claire and Jordyn; sisters, Janette (Don) Susalla and LeoCadia Tithof; sister-in-law, Marion (Ed) Sekelsky; brother-in-law Donald Klump and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Alex, Stanley and Eugene; a son-in-law, Rodney Krawcyzk; sister-in-law, Cathryn Klump; brother-in-laws, Fred Tithof and Gene Hummel and a nephew, Joseph Tithof.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. John Cotter will preside with a private burial following at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 11:00 - 9:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St. Charles Area Museum. The family would like to say a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and caregiver Pam Fortier. Cecil officially retired on Labor Day, September 7, 2015 when the Lord said, "you can go now."


Marion Louis Nowosatko, Sr.

February 10, 1939 - September 3, 2015


NOWOSATKO, Marion Louis, Sr., age 76 years, passed away September 3, 2015. He was born to the late Marion and Gertrude (Jankawski) Nowosatko on February 10, 1939 in Saginaw. On June 30, 1962 he married the former Janet Flory and she survives him.

Along with his wife Janet, Marion is survived by his children, Jeffrey Nowosatko, Marion Nowosatko Jr. and Michelle Nowosatko; grandchildren, Ashley, Kaily and Marion Nowosatko III; siblings, Barbara Nowosatko, Rose (Jake) Wolfe, Kathryn (Bob) Nieman, Stan (Diane) Nowosatko and Sue (Terry) Peters; his brother and sister-in-laws, Lorraine Flory and Buck (Loretta) Flory; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial visitation will take place Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. A veteran's service will take place at 7:00 p.m.

Nathaniel (Nate) Joseph Fulara

October 14, 1986 - August 22, 2015


FULARA, Nathaniel Joseph, age 28 years, passed away suddenly Saturday, August 22, 2015. He was born on October 14, 1986 to Timothy and Connie (Traver) Fulara. Nate enjoyed his work as an IT Support at the Saginaw ISD and then at SVSU. He loved water sports, dirt bike riding and being a devoted and supportive father to his son Nathan.

In addition to his parents, Timothy and Connie and son, Nathan, Nate is survived by his twin brother, Nicholas Fulara and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Joyce Traver and Francis and Elizabeth Fulara.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 708 Sanderson St., St. Charles. Nate will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Father John Cotter will preside. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 25 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. In lieu of flowers donations can be made, directed at the family's wishes, to an education fund for his son Nathan.

Dorothy Ann Vietti

May 10, 1940 - August 13, 2015


VIETTI, Dorothy Ann, age 75 years, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015. She was born on May 10, 1940 to the late Steve and Irene (Stevens) Podoba. Dorothy loved to travel, read, cook, swim and study her bible.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Vietti, whom she married October 10, 1959. She also leaves two children, Scott (Kathy) Vietti and Deana (Steve) Kline; her grandchildren, Tara (Mike), Steven, Jason, Dylan and Sydney; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Faith; a brother, Steve Podoba; and a sister, Shirley Wilson. Along with her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandson, Nick Vietti.

Funeral service will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Pastor Douglas Jackson will officiate with burial following at Brant Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, August 16 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert H. Hasse

April 4, 1929 - July 24, 2015


HASSE, Robert (Bob) H., age 86 years, passed away on July 24, 2015 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. He was born in Saginaw on April 4, 1929 to the late Cornelius and Gladys (Roose) Hasse. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a Machine Repairman in skilled trades at Saginaw Division Plant 4. He married the former Margaret Schnell on April 26, 1952 and she preceded him in death on November 4, 2013.

He is survived by 5 children: Bill (Cassandra) Hasse, Albert (Yolidia) Hasse, Wayne (Roberta) Hasse, Richard (Laurie) Hasse and Karen (Arnold) Clark, 9 grandchildren: Cindy (Mark) Lusk, Andrew (Nicole) Hasse, Tanya (Justin) Carroll, Amanda (Bene) Escamilla, Christopher (Becca) Hasse, Nicole (Jon) Unger, Daniel (Ginger) Hasse, Brandon Clark and Robert Clark, many great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings: Mary Burk, Laura LaValey, Gene (Pat) Hasse, Ed (Kathy) Hasse, Allen (Sally) Hasse and Ron (Sue) Hasse. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Hasse.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Burial will follow in Garfield Cemetery. VALENTINE, Ruth Joyce, age 89 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. She was born on May 9, 1926 to the late John and Alice Hall.

Ruth is survived by a son, Larry (Debbie) Valentine Sr.; grandchildren, Larry (Candy) Valentine Jr. and Tiffany (Ralph) Cody; great-grandchildren, Larry Valentine III, Ryan Valentine, Felica (Allen) Himes and Justin Cody; and a great-great-grandchild, Hayden Cody.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Pastor Phil Ortega will officiate with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Marvin E. LeVan

December 28, 1944 - April 14, 2015


LEVAN, Marvin E., age 70 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children on April 14, 2015. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Hoch) LeVan; his daughter, Martina Marshall; his son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Carrie LeVan; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Marvin proudly served in the United States Marines. He retired from General Motors in 1995. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

A memorial service will be held at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles on Saturday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Arlene Pearl Theile

May 21, 1929 - February 21, 2015


Theile, Arlene Pearl, age 74 years, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Toni and Trish House in Auburn, with family by her side. She was born on April 1, 1940 to the late Leo and Margaret (Loeffelbeim) Hollenback. On July 26, 1958 she married Kenneth Theile and he preceded her in death. Arlene was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church. She loved the casino, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her children, Julia (Larry) Stam, Mary Lorencz and Kenneth (Heather) Theile; grandchildren, Christopher Stam, Jeannie (Josh) Nelson, Trisha and Jacob Lorencz and Kristin and Brody Theile; great-grandchildren, Gage Stam and Kendra Nelson; siblings, James Hollenback, Betty Thomas, Iris Calhoun, Jerry Hollenback and Roger Hollenback; special friend Nancy Duranso and many other family members and friends. Along with her parents and husband Arlene was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Hollenback and Delores Varacka.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 1123 W. Walnut St., St. Charles. Pastor Jason Baldwin will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles, and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Toni and Trish House or Hope Lutheran Church.

Gloria Mae McNaughton

May 21, 1929 - February 21, 2015


MCNAUGHTON, Gloria Mae, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2015, at the age of 85 years. She was born May 21, 1929 in Corunna, Michigan to the late Anthony and Bessie (Murdock) Follen. She married Don McNaughton on April 15, 1953 and he preceded her in death in October of 2007. Gloria worked at Aerocraft/Browning Marine in St. Charles for 15 years. She enjoyed listening to music and following her daughter Kathy's band.

Gloria is survived by her brother Harold (Ruth) Follen of Durand; a son, Tim (Tonia) McNaughton of Chesaning; two daughters, Julie and Kathy McNaughton of Chesaning; Six grandsons, Joe (Jenee) McNaughton of Saginaw, Nick McNaughton of Brant, Mike McNaughton of Brant, Joshua McNaughton of Flushing, Anthony (Jodi) McNaughton of Chesaning, and Justin (Brandi) McNaughton of Chesaning; seven great-grandchildren, Alaina, Thomas, Elizabith, Layla, Riley, Kylie and Anthony and several loved nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband Gloria was preceded in death by her two sons, Michael and Merlin McNaughton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. The Rev. Ray Strawser will officiate with burial following at Brant Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Evelyn Avis Liedeke

October 10, 1926 - February 18, 2015


LIEDEKE, Evelyn Avis, age 88 years, passed away February 18, 2015. She was born on October 10, 1926 in Wheeler, Michigan to the late Henry and Mary (Shaw) Rittenour. On November 10, 1945 she married Albert George Liedeke and he preceded her in death. Evelyn was a member of the Mason Star, Merrill OES.

Evelyn is survived by 5 children, Ronald (Diane) Liedeke, Betty (Michael) Naessens, Carol (Dennis) Burns, Ernest Liedeke (Lisa), and Roger (Michelle “Micki”) Liedeke; 16 Grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Rittenour. Along with her parents and husband Evelyn was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Frances Hansen, Myrtle Harris and Flossie Welke; 2 brothers, Roy and Ellis Rittenour and 3 infant siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at CM Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles. Chaplain Susan Gingerich will officiate. A private burial will take place at Lakefield Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Dementia.

Mary Lou Schantz

May 7, 1931 - January 24, 2015


SCHANTZ, Mary Lou, age 83 years, dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family, Saturday, January 24, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born May 7, 1931 in Petoskey, MI to William and Thelma (Trautman) Price. She married John Emery Schantz on November 7, 1953 he predeceased her in 2003. Mary was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, St. Charles. She was a prayer line member and was active in her church. She taught sewing classes for 4H. She owned and operated Schantz's Blueberries for 42 years. She was kind and generous and was known for her fresh homemade bread, golf cart rides, and blueberries.

Surviving are 13 of her 14 children, Rita Chad, Patricia Schantz, Dolores (Arn) Koteskey, Edward (Laura) Schantz, Andrew (Darlene) Schantz, Vincent Schantz, Lois (Duane) Robertson, Anne (Larry) Wade, William Schantz, Daniel Schantz, Jeanette Bean, Frances (Brian) Hunt, and Donna Schantz: daughter-in-law, Mrs. Donna Schantz: grandchildren, Ben, Matt, Nick, Mary, Luke (Shannon), Anna, Gina, and Mark Chad; Kurt (Diana), Gregg (Sandy), Matthew, and Shelley Koteskey; Michael Schantz, Jennifer Schantz and Sarah (Bryan) Kenyon; Ashley Loudenslager and Zachary Schantz; Trevor and Noah Robertson; Cassandra and Ariana Wade; Nathaniel and Alexis Bean; and Clarice and Audrey Hunt: great-grandchildren, Sarah, Renee, Andrea, Jayme Chad; Lydia Chad; Gwen, Fionna, and Charlotte Kenyon; and Mason and Isaac Koteskey: 4 siblings, Marie (Walt) Fineout, Linda Oostemeyer, Peggy (Ray) Borowiak, and Carl (Judy) Price. She also leaves many special friends and neighbors behind. She was predeceased by her son, John E. Schantz II: a grandson, Brent Warrington: 3 brothers, William, Jerry, and Tony Price: and 1 sister, Alice Burrows.

Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Fr. Andrew LaFromboise will preside. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 26 from 2-8 p.m. at C.M. Humpula Funeral Home, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles, with a Vigil and for the deceased being held at 7 p.m. followed by the rosary. She will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
